Final Day of the make over…

Yesterday I Went up to the booth again and helped polish up KUH. She is looking absolutely amazing! I can’t believe how good a job Glen (painter) has made of it!! Today she was taken out of the booth so I could take her home. She is now polished up, and I put back on only the important things needed for driving (rear number plate and wing mirrors) but I will be properly assembling her over the weekend and with the proper number plate too! I am so excited but extremely tired again, so I shall report back in a couple of days/the weekend and very soon will take her out for a photo shoot!!

Day 2 of the make over…

Today was the BIG day! It started off with putting KUHs rear wheels back on and reversing her out of the booth. The weather was dry, if not grey during the morning, but still warm and perfect for flatting back the primer and the rest of the paint work that needed doing. We also replaced the bootlid with the one which I got primed at work and then I drove her back into the booth. Once in there again, we masked her all up, prepared the surfaces to be sprayed and then I left the booth completely whilst she got her base coat and top coat sprayed on! And that was it for today. Doesn’t sound like we did much, but the flatting takes forever, and the preparation too-the better the prep the better the paint job! Day 1 of the make over…

Got up bright and early today (5:30am!!!) and it wasnt a work day! Not for me anyway! I went over to the booth and helped prep and prime KUH! We both spent a lof of time on her arches and any rust has been replaced with fibreglass-she will have the best arches on any XJ40 out there (maybe! *wink*) Am not going to leave a long comment here, as I am totally shattered and I have another long day tomorrow, but please take the time to visit the gallery and look at all the photos from today!

This is it…

Drove home tonight in an old-school VW Caddy…Why? Because KUH is at the spray booth! Yay! I have borrowed the painters car so that I can go and help the painter as well tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. Managed to book tomorrow off so that I can get stuck in and it won’t be long at all now until KUH is all one colour and hopefully with a dry boot as well lol!! Early start tomorrow, and probably late nights too, but I will be keeping you all updated here with photos and maybe even a quick written update to let you know how its all going!!

Argh the things we do for our cars…

Ouch…going to make this update quick….ouch….just been and flatted KUHs bonnet as she should be getting her spray done this weekend….ouch….and after an hour of flatting about 5 of my fingers are bleeding! How lame is that?! And I can’t understand why as I flat at work…oh yes I wear rubber gloves there ha ha!! Ah well, tis all for a good cause…ouch!!!
